Robert (Bob) Lemons has 27 years of service with the Boca Raton Fire Department; he is a certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), a certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators, and also a certified Fire Investigator Instructor through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI). He is a state of Florida certified Fire Investigator I, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Instructor I.
Bob has served in many capacities during his years of service with the City of Boca Raton Fire Department including Firefighter Paramedic, Driver Engineer, Rescue Supervisor, and Lieutenant. He was the handler for South Florida’s first accelerant detection canine, “Holly”. Bob and K-9 Holly provided assistance to fire departments throughout South Florida in determining the origin and cause of fires. They were also recognized by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for their assistance with the National Response Team in the South Florida area. Bob is also one of the founding members of the Canine Accelerant Detection Association (CADA).
Bob has investigated over 1500 fires and has qualified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts. He is also a registered beekeeper and speaks on the influence Africanized bees have on Florida beekeeping and teaches first responders how to handle Africanized bee emergencies.
